Ingredients

  • 1 package Refrigerated pie crust (Notes: (14 oz.))
  • 1.5 cups Apple pie filling (Notes: (from a 21 oz. can or homemade))
  • 1 unit Large egg (Notes: for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons Coarse sugar (Notes: for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. 1
Unroll the pie crusts or roll out homemade crust to 1/8-inch thickness.
  2. 2
Use a 4½ to 5-inch round cutter to cut circles from the crust.
  3. 3
Place a few slices of apple and about 1½ tablespoons of pie filling juice on one half of each dough circle, leaving a ½-inch border.
  4. 4
Whisk together the egg and a little water to make the egg wash.
  5. 5
Brush the edges of each pie dough circle with the egg wash.
  6. 6
Fold the empty half over the filling to create half circles and crimp the edges with a fork.
  7. 7
Brush the tops with egg wash and cut three small slits for steam vents.
  8. 8
    Sprinkle with coarse sugar.
  9. 9
Place 2 to 4 pies in the air fryer basket and air fry at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
  10. 10
Cool on a wire rack and serve warm.

Tips & Variations:

  • Use pie dough scraps to make additional pies.
  • Don’t overfill the pie crust circles to prevent leakage.
  • Cut steam vents to avoid bursting during cooking.
  • Serve with caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream for added flavor.
