1 packet Active dry yeast (Notes: (0.25-ounce/7g))
-
0.25 cup Granulated sugar (Notes: plus 1 teaspoon)
-
6 tablespoons Unsalted butter (Notes: melted)
-
1 piece Large egg (Notes: at room temperature)
-
3 cups All-purpose flour (Notes: plus additional for dusting)
-
0.5 teaspoon Salt
-
Coconut or olive oil cooking spray
-
3 cups Confectioners’ sugar
-
0.5 cup Whole milk
-
0.5 teaspoon Vanilla extract
Instructions
-
1In a small bowl, whisk together the warm milk, yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Let the mixture stand until very bubbly.
-
2In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, whisk together the melted butter, egg, and remaining sugar until smooth. Stir in yeast mixture until combined.
-
3Add the flour and salt. Mix on low speed until a shaggy dough forms. Increase speed to medium-low and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.
-
4Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
-
5Punch down the risen dough. Roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick rectangle and cut out donuts.
-
6Place donuts on a baking sheet and let rise until doubled in size.
-
7Preheat the air fryer to 350°F and spray the basket with cooking spray.
-
8Air fry the donuts in batches until golden brown.
-
9Make the glaze by whisking together confectioners’ sugar, milk, melted butter, and vanilla until smooth. Dip warm donuts into the glaze and let set.
Tips & Variations:

Avoid adding more flour during kneading; the dough should be slightly tacky.
-
Measure flour correctly to avoid overpacking.
-
Glaze donuts while they are still warm for the best results.
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
