About MamaCooksit

Hi, I’m Sarah Vance, the home cook behind MamaCooksit. I’m a mother of three — two busy sons and one little girl — and most of what I know about cooking has come from real evenings in a real kitchen.

Some nights dinner starts with a plan. Other nights it starts with a hungry child asking what smells good, a pot on the stove, and whatever I remembered to pull from the fridge. MamaCooksit grew from that kind of kitchen: warm, busy, practical, and always centered around feeding people well.

This site is for home cooks who want recipes they can trust. Not complicated food. Not perfect-table pressure. Just dependable meals made with ingredients you can find at a regular grocery store, written in clear steps that make sense when the house is full and the day has already been long.

Why I Started MamaCooksit

I started MamaCooksit because I know how hard it can be to decide what to make every day.

With three kids at the table, I’ve learned that a recipe has to do more than look good. It needs to work for different appetites, different moods, and different schedules. My boys may want something hearty and filling, my daughter may ask for the familiar pieces she already loves, and I still need dinner to come together without turning the whole kitchen upside down.

That is the heart of MamaCooksit. I share recipes that help you cook with more confidence, whether you are making a weeknight chicken dinner, a cozy casserole, a simple soup, a make-ahead breakfast, or something sweet for the weekend.

What You’ll Find Here

At MamaCooksit, you’ll find recipes built for everyday home cooking.

You can expect family dinners, comfort food, chicken recipes, pasta meals, soups, casseroles, low-carb ideas, high-protein meals, budget-aware recipes, freezer-friendly options, and practical dishes that can fit into a busy week.

I like recipes with clear steps, useful tips, and honest storage notes. If something reheats well, I’ll tell you. If a sauce needs gentle heat, I’ll explain why. If a swap changes the texture, I’ll be clear about that too.

My goal is to help you understand the recipe before you start cooking, so you feel prepared instead of rushed.

The Way I Cook

I cook with regular ingredients, simple tools, and a lot of flexibility.

I believe a good recipe should leave room for real life. Maybe you need to use ground turkey instead of beef. Maybe you want a lighter side. Maybe you need to make dinner earlier in the day and reheat it later. Maybe one child wants sauce on the side and another wants extra cheese. That is normal family cooking, and I write with that in mind.

You will see practical notes throughout my recipes: how to store leftovers, how to freeze portions, what to serve on the side, how to keep chicken tender, when to stop baking, and how to make small changes without losing what makes the dish work.

For Real Family Life

MamaCooksit is not about making every meal perfect. It is about making dinner feel possible.

Some recipes here are cozy and classic. Some are lighter and meal-prep friendly. Some are made for busy weeknights, and some are the kind of food I save for slower weekends when everyone has time to sit down together.

What connects them is reliability. I want each recipe to feel like something you can come back to — the kind of meal that earns a place in your regular rotation because it helps, satisfies, and fits your life.
